Top leaders of Russia, Finland, Iceland, Sweden and Norway participated in the plenary session of the forum “The Arctic. An Ocean of Opportunity”. During the meeting, the parties discussed the importance of cooperation in the development of the region with great potential. In his speech, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin noted that to increase investment in the region and launch new projects, the government intends to use all tools to support investment, including those that have already been successfully tested in the framework of development programs for the Far Eastern regions of Russia.
The Business program was supplemented by the Exhibition, in which the regions of the Russian Arctic zone take part. For example, The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) presented a model of a high-tech Zhatai shipyard. At the exhibition of St. Petersburg delegates were able to get acquainted with samples of equipment for work in the polar regions, models of ice-class vessels for the Northern territories exploration.
The International Arctic forum has been held since 2010 and serves as a key platform for discussing topical issues of socio-economic development of the Arctic territories.
